A Grandfather to newly weds. A ROYAL GUEST TRANSFORMS
EVERY MEAL TIME.
Light a candle or soft
light so that your gentleness in the Lord will delight the other.
Bear in mind that our Lord
Jesus said, ’I AM the Light of the world. The light shines in darkness and the
darkness does not extinguish it. Walk in the Light with each other, so that no
secrets are kept from your beloved: an excellent preparation. Join hands and hearts.
Beautiful music adds a
benediction to a meal after a busy day, remembering that everything that has
breath should praise the Lord. Create an atmosphere of tender love for your
evening meal, simple or carefully planned and executed. Vary the soothing music from day to day.
Dress appropriately, even
in the relaxed hours of life; so that you honour each in your deportment. When your garden flourishes, ensure there is
a beautiful vase on your table. The
writer chooses a rose for his beloved each morning. Our Lord Jesus is the Rose of Sharon, the bright and Morning
star. May the fragrant beauty of His life fill your evenings.
Share together the events
of the day, gently discussing blessings and difficulties, joys and sorrows. Use
these precious moments to encourage each other, displaying christian
sympathy.
Show how the Lord Jesus
guided you during your teaching or with your colleagues.
Tell how the Lord kept you
in the hour of temptation, how you smiled when impatience was inevitable, and
anger averted. And gentle words calmed the stormy scene. Let your dear one know
how you spoke the name of the Lord Jesus to a needy student or a fellow
teacher, facing emotional crisis; or a parent under stress. This is written
to two teachers.
There is no greater joy for the newly-married than sharing
these triumphant hours.
Keep the Scriptures always
at hand, to read some passage, remembering that the Lord Jesus opened the
Scriptures relating to His death, burial and resurrection when he dined with
Cleopas and his friend at Emmaus. ( Luke 24 ) Recall that during the meal, He
took bread and broke it and revealed Himself as the crucified, now risen Son. This sweet communion with the risen Lord
makes married life such a sweet experience, and transforms every meal.
Pray often or as Scripture
said, “Pray without ceasing.’ Make morning and night prayer the focal point in
all your meals. The German believers have grace at the beginning and end of
each meal. Great idea! Especially
observe this simple, blessed recipe for all visitors to your table, knowing
that when the Lord sends children to share your home, that these prayers and bible
readings will be invaluable memories to guide them when they set up their own
home.
Keep in mind that the
believer hopes for the Lord Jesus’ coming again, the bridegroom embracing His bride for the marriage supper
of the Lamb. The throne of glory is the
scene. Then we, His bride, will share all the wonder of this supper with our
Beloved and the saints of God of every race, tribe language and in each
generation. Oh, what a stupendous
moment.
Your evening meal is a
prelude to this glorious event. Live
for eternity, while traversing time.
Your Grandfather and Gran
have proven these truths over 60 years, excepting for those years when
separated during WW11. These precious, eternal principles will enrich your
family life and deepen your walk with the Lord of glory.

as Christ loved the church and gave Himself for it. ( sacrificial)
Wives, be in sweet
submission to your own husbands , as unto the Lord. ‘ Ephesians 5
