SAFE THAT NIGHT. Read Exodus 12
On one
dark night in the land of Egypt
The Presence of God would pass over,
It was the last of the testings that God sent
To those who made Israel suffer.
To
escape everyone must follow God’s rules
Which He decreed all should obey:
That a lamb without spot be taken and killed
And its blood on the doorposts display.
Some
Egyptians mocked, and considered it false
That the Presence of God would come.
So they did nothing. No lamb would they kill
They acted as though it were fun.
But
the Israelites looked for the finest sheep
Without blemish, or wrinkle or spot.
They killed the lamb as God had instructed
And collected its blood in a pot.
The
fathers dipped hyssop leaves into the dish
Of the blood, then brushed it each side of the door.
Every head of the house placed some blood for a sign
Trusting God as His Presence hovered over.
The
parents then entered their homes in great faith
Because they obeyed God’s commands,
They gathered their families and reminded them all
How God promised safety in the land.
Now
the Egyptians continued to mock and to scoff
At the ones who applied the lamb’s blood.
They entered their homes and they sneered and jeered,
And boasted , ‘My house will be as good.’
But
that night the Lord’s Presence hovered over the land,
In Egyptian homes the first-born was struck dead.
And even in Pharoah’s great place so rich
The first-born was taken, they said.
The
faithful who applied the blood to their doors
Were safe, and all the family survived
They worshipped and sang praises to God
Who kept His promise to provide.
It’s
a picture of Jesus, whom God later sent
When He died for the sins of mankind
As the sinless Saviour, the spotless Lamb,
So forgiveness and peace we would find.
The
Lord Jesus Christ as God’s sinless Son
Gave His own life willingly for you.
His own blood was shed, like that Passover Lamb,
And for certain we know God’s Word is true.
Our
wonderful Saviour willingly died on the cross
As He paid the price for our sins.
And just like He hovered over Israel’s safe homes
He protects all who trust in HIM.
Do read that great chapter.
