THE PRIVILEGE OF A SON. Gwenda Steward
If you wish to see the Ambassador ( who represents his nation abroad ) in an over-seas country, you first make an appointment a long time ahead. Sometimes weeks, or even months. To prepare for the visit you wear your best clothes, and be sure you arrive on time. When you meet the Ambassador you bow, and speak very respectfully, honouring him as you would the Queen or the Prime Minister.
Well , this day Mr Jackson received an appointment to see Mr Ambassador Baron, in an Asian country. Of course he wore his best suit and tie, while his helper cleaned his shoes till you could almost see your face in the shine.
Mr Jackson drove to the Ambassadors office located at a building with steep stairs and carved white columns. Frangipanni grew at the side of the path, with all colours of orange, red, white, yellow and cream.
Mr Jackson climbed the steps and knocked at the metal door, which the butler opened. He beckoned an attendant to take Mr Jacksons keys and park his car in the visitors car park. Mr Jackson handed over the keys, and then the butler led him to the reception room where he waited his turn to see the Ambassador.
However, while he waited a young ten-year-old boy entered. He spoke courteously to Mr Jackson, Good morning, sir, then excused himself, knocked on the office door, and walked into the Ambassadors office.
Imagine Mr Jacksons thoughts, I have waited a long time to see the Ambassador, and heres this young boy who knocks and walks straight in. How could the boy be so cheeky?
It was not long before the lad returned from the inner room. Should Mr Jackson ask the boy why he visited the Ambassador without an appointment?
He spoke quietly as he touched the boys arm, Lad, Ive been waiting to see Mr Ambassador for a long time. But you just walked in. How could you enter immediately to see this great man? I made an appointment to talk important business with him.
The boys answer surprised Mr Jackson, Well, sir, the Ambassador is my father, and I am allowed into his room to talk to him at any time. I love talking to my father.
Mr Jackson nodded, and at that moment the door opened. Mr Ambassador Baron walked out, shook hands with him, and said, I see you talked with the boy. He comes to see me at any time. Now, please come in and speak with me, Mr Jackson. You are welcome.
And the Ambassadors son went out to play with his friends, glad for the time he spent with his father.
Read Hebrews 4:16. You will read that God, our loving heavenly Father, encourages us to come confidently to Him and pray. Tell Him you love Him, and ask His help at any time. You need never be afraid to come to God because you were His child.
When you knock on Gods door in faith, He says, Come in and talk with Me, and I will listen, especially when you need My help.
How wonderful to be Gods child!
Memorise Hebrews 4:16 and tell your friends of this special privilege.
