GOD’S CERTAIN LOVE c
Read 11 Corinthians 12:1-10
‘My
grace is sufficient for you: for My strength is made perfect in weakness.’
11 Corinthians 12:9a (KJV )
In asia we visited friends who formerly
studied in australia. They kindly
arranged our accommodation in a comfortable high-rise hotel and drove us to see
the sights of their city. But we were
always glad to rest from the heat and humidity in our air-conditioned room.
I was about to lie on the bed when my
husband beckoned me to the window. I
looked out to see the red helmets of two firemen who stood on a tall ladder,
which reached to the floor below us.
Where was the fire? Were we in danger? Happily the receptionist telephoned to say that we need not fear,
as the men carried out a weekly fire practice and rescue programme.
But the ladder merely reached to the floor
below us, and therefore was inadequate for anyone to reach or rescue us should
a fire occur in our room. I imagined the possible panic for anyone in
that situation.
But with God there is no ‘almost’ or
‘not quite sufficient’ . Paul experienced many difficult trials – persecution,
beatings, lashings, stonings, shipwreck and more. Yet he said, with sincere confidence in His Lord’s words and
power,
‘My
grace is sufficient for you, for My strength is made perfect in your
weakness.’
God’s mighty rescue power reaches right
where we are – in the home, the office, at studies, in hospital, the garden, or
school. God never fails.
Believe
and receive what God freely offers.
PRAYER: Thank you, heavenly Father, for
your constant love and grace.
Keep me in
your loving care, so that I may never fear life’s fiery trials or testings, but
face them with courage.
Thank you for your
unfailing love,
And for being there
when I need You.
THOUGHT; God
said it. I believe it. That settles
it.
