While the da Vinci code concealed the eternal Son of God, the bible, Gods eternal word, showed His true being. I shall illustrate His glorious Person.
David wrote in Psalm 24, 'Lift up your heads, O you
gates; and be lifted up you everlasting doors; and (notice His title) the King
of glory shall come in. He asks 'Who is this King of glory? The Lord strong
and might, the Lord mighty in battle.
He enquired further: Who is this King of glory? The Lord of Hosts, He is the
King of glory. The Lord Jesus Christ fulfilled all these requirements.
Paul commented, 'We speak the wisdom of God in a mystery,
the hidden wisdom which God ordained before the ages for our glory, which none
of the princes of this world knew; for had they known, they would not have crucified
the Lord of glory'
(1 Corinth 2:8). The King of glory gained His greatest victory on the cross,
where HE crushed the forces of evil; and won our eternal salvation.
James, the half-brother of our Lord Jesus lifted Him high, 'My brethren, do not hold the faith of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Lord of glory, with partiality'. While James shared his boyhood and the Nazareth home with Jesus for many years, he acknowledged His deity: addressing Him as Lord, Christ (the Messiah), and the Lord of glory. The Holy Spirit affirmed that. James was better equipped to speak of God's Son than the writer of the da Vinci code.
The blood circulating in our arteries and veins, conveys
nutrition to every cell, purifying them with oxygen and releasing carbon dioxide,
comprising about 5 million red cells, and 7-10,000 white cells, lymphocytes
and platelets for clotting is for our individual well-being . What a contrast:
'The blood of our Lord Jesus Christ was shed for many, for the remission of
our sins.' Surely a miracle. John, the beloved apostle, so close to his Lord
wrote, 'If we walk in the light as He is in the light, we have fellowship with
one another, and the blood of Jesus Christ God's Son cleanses us from all sin.'
(1John 1:7) His shed blood on the cross cleanses (releases and purifies) each
member of the church of the Lord from (notice please) all sin.'
When you rest firmly on the purifying of His precious blood, your eternity is
sure.
John described Jesus as the Christ (the Messiah) and the Son of the living God. Trust God's word: not the passing word of any fallible human.
Paul convinced in his final, heart-breaking address
to the Ephesian church, 'Take heed to yourselves and all the flock, among which
the Holy Spirit has made you overseers, to shepherd (feed, guard, heal, nurture)
the church of God, which He has purchased with His own blood' (Acts 20:28).
Just as the living God owns His church, so the blood shed on Calvary for our
sin is the blood of God. It is powerful proof that the ONE dying on the cross
was and is God in the flesh. Cherish this!
The purchase price paid for our release from sin, its guilt and shame was 'The
blood of God.' No gold or silver currency could secure our redemption: only
His blood.
Isaiah supports our stand, when He described the Lord Himself giving us a sign, 'Behold the virgin shall conceive and bear a Son, and shall call His name Immanuel'(7:14 ). Matthew quoted this when telling how Christ was virgin-conceived and born of Mary.' All this was done which was spoken by the Lord through the prophet saying, 'Behold a virgin shall be with child and bear a Son, and they shall call His name Immanuel. (1:23), which is translated, God with us.'' Matthew after years in the presence of the Son of God vigorously claimed that He was the living God and was with them. He fearlessly spoke of the Holy Spirit's conception of our Lord. How dare a fallible writer invent stories which challenge the precious bible? Give Him His entitlement, His regal title-IMMANUEL.
When Isaiah spoke of the first and the last, he spoke of 'the King of Israel, the Redeemer, (blood sacrifice demanded), the Lord of Hosts proceeding on to 'I am the First and the Last' (44:6). Only one Person in all eternity qualified with these attributes. Namely our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, who is First, that is, aeons before He created the heavens and the earth and all in them. He is the Last, in the splendid consummation when everything is gathered and presented to the Father. When John saw the wonderful Lord in the Revelation, he fell at His feet as dead. But he laid his right hand on me, saying to me, 'Do not be afraid, I Am the First and the Last (1:17). Some foolishly rob our precious Saviour of His just recognition.
David spoke of the Lord as his shepherd, as in the 23rd psalm. Isaiah also speaks of Him who is the Good Shepherd, who gives His life for the sheep, 'He will feed His flock like a shepherd; He will gather the lambs in His arms; and carry them in His bosom; and gently lead them who are with young' (40:11). My first gift to my fiancée, (now my wife of 64 years) was a painting of the Good Shepherd, nurturing the lambs in His bosom. It hangs over our bed. He has fulfilled this delightful mission to us and our dear children and successive generations.
Predicted in the Old Testament, the concept of the good shepherd is enlarged in the New Testament by Christ's own teachings - and His Calvary suffering. The Hebrews writer finished his letter with this insight, 'May the God of peace, who brought up our Lord Jesus from the dead, that great Shepherd of the sheep, through the blood of the everlasting covenant, make you complete in every good work to do His will (13:20). Please notice how the Lord Jesus was raised from the dead, and that He alone is the Great shepherd of the sheep; and that His shed blood sealed an everlasting agreement
Isaiah (9:6) showed His humanity, 'Unto us a Child is born; His deity, a Son is given; that 'the government shall be on His shoulders; He was perfect Manhood and unchallengeable deity. And note His name 'Wonderful. Counsellor, the mighty God; everlasting Father, Prince of Peace'. Da Vinci code cannot deprive the Lord Jesus of these outstanding endowments. We bow reverently before Him as our God.
